13.       Miller lets us know that Willy is going to die in the beginning through the title so we see that is was the American Dream that led to his demise. Throughout the play readers know what is coming and they can better comprehend the elements of failure and disappointment and how they play into the destruction of Willy Loman. A car is a more appropriate death because that is what he used for his job, he was a traveling salesman and that is what he lived for: success. And that was what did him in. His death was harmful to the happiness of his wife, they would finally get to live debt free but now she is alone without someone to share the house with. It does good in that Biff becomes certain of his path in life and Happy is more determined to live up to his father’s expectations.
